About the Transportation Library

The Northwestern University Transportation Library is one of the largest transportation information centers in the world. Founded in 1958, the library maintains a collection of over 450,000 items encompassing information on all forms of transportation -air, rail, highway, pipeline and water - including urban transportation and logistics, and emphasizing the socio-economics aspects of transportation. In addition, the library maintains a significant collection on law enforcement, police management, and traffic enforcement materials. Its collection of environmental impact statements is one of the most complete in the world.

Note for Internet Explorer users


The "High" security setting in Internet Explorer will render the JavaScript features of this site unusable. The "View entire finding aid HTML" link will bypass the JavaScript-driven expandable/collapsible list of menus, and take the user directly to a fully expanded view of the list.

Users who do not have administrator access to their workstations may not be able to adjust the browser's security settings. To change security settings, use the "Tools" menu in Internet Explorer, then select "Internet Options." One of the tabs across the top will read "Security."
